Friends of Dan: 2 down, 1 to go for BC

Now is the time to shine for college hockey teams, and fortunately for the boys over at BC, they are peaking right on schedule.
Beanpot Champions? Check.
Hockey East Tournament Champions? Check.
National Champions? TBD.
I said it when they beat BU at the Garden a month and a half ago: the Beanpot Championship is the first step on BC's run to a 3rd National Championship this decade, and the team is looking primed for a ride to (and hopefully through) the Frozen Four.
They made it a little more difficult on themselves tonight than it probably should have been, Muse needs to straighten up a little bit heading into the Regionals and the defense needs to shape up, but I have faith in those Eagles. Besides, Dan the Banner made his trek around BC's campus months ago and gave out good vibes, so I have no doubts things are only going to get more exciting for a certain hockey team from The Heights.

Beanpot Returns to Chestnut Hill

For the second night in a row, a friend of Danny's will walk away champion. 9 1/2 months ago as I toted Dan the Banner around the beautiful BC campus taking pictures, I thought to myself "this exercise will lead directly to a Beanpot win for the hockey team in 2010." Ok, that's a lie, I didn't say that. But Boston College is a friend of Danny, and tonight is a big night at the Heights after yet another epic BC-BU battle on the ice. Rough first period, but BC took the reins in the second, keyed by a highlight reel goal by freshman Chris Kreider as he passed to himself between the legs of the (helpless) BU defender, swept across the crease and tucked the puck just inside the post to stretch BC's lead to 3-1. I don't want to get ahead of myself, but 2000-01: BC wins Beanpot, BC wins National Championship, 2007-08: BC wins Beanpot, BC wins National Championship...something to keep in mind. And this year, after getting a campus visit from Danny, it's almost not fair to the rest of the nation to try and take down the Eagles.
